May 2012: First Official Glossybox featuring Zoya & Burberry!

Remember when I showed you the specialty Glossybox I was sent to review? I showed you guys what kidn of brands to expect from Glossybox in the future & what they had sent me. Well,  happily shelled out my own money & bought one so I could ACTUALLY review the service for you. If you want to see what I got & my impressions, continue on!

Graduation Manicure: Zoya Lara & Arizona

Can you even dye my nails to match my gown? UH HUH!

Well the school year is over & my little tykes (most of them!) have moved along to kindergarten. Its a sad & happy thing but honestly...mostly sad. I'll miss my kids dearly. But you must know I'm going out looking fabulous!

I picked up this dress at Kohls because it was bright, cheery, & definitely school appropriate. I paired it with black wedges, neutral makeup, & my hair in a high pony tail. Pretty but subtle. But my nails...I needed something more fun. I thought this pair was striking but not too over the top with this dress since everything else was low-key. I also paired it with these gold coral earrings I got at Kohls in a haul. The dress is more color accurate in my manicure photos, the full size dress was one I snapped for my Instagram. :)

The pink shade is Lara from Zoya while the tangerine accent nail is Arizona from Zoya. Love these 2 together! I topped them with a heavy dose of Seche Vite.

So what do you think? I really enjoyed it & actually wore it for 3 days longer...that's a long time for me!

Review: Frownies Combo Rose Water Hydrator Spray & Eye Gel Patches

I have been fighting the dark circles. No wait, battling them! They keep popping up probably due to stress. I've had a lot going on lately & there they are to prove it. I recently received a kit from Frownies to review (more on the rest of it later on) & these were the stand out product. I wanted to review them earlier but reminded myself it needed a bit more time.

From the Frownies Website:
Eye Gels: Use your first set of Eye Gels three night in a row, then use them once a week for best results.

With one 30 minute treatment 100% of women testing Frownies eye gels saw a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and dark circles.

Eye Gels can be reused when kept moist with Rose Water Hydrator.

Rose Water Hydrator:  Frownies' Hydrator Spray can be used as a daily beauty plumper and toner. After cleansing use Rose Water on the entire face, neck and d├ęcolletage to prepare skin for other products or cosmetics. Rose Water Hydrator Spray will compliment the pH balance of the skin and further reduce the appearance of pore size as it begins to plump fine lines and wrinkles. Rose Water from essential oil of rose is an antibacterial wrinkle treatment and helps prevent blemishes on the skin. Rose Water Hydrator with hyaluronic acid is a wonderfully refreshing pick up after exercising, during air travel or anytime a warm dry environment threatens to dehydrate and age skin.

You get them in a foil packet (shown above) then after your first use you place them back inside, mist it with with included Rose Water Hydrator spray, pop it in a plastic bag, & then store it in your fridge.

I must admit, I didn't have high hopes for this product. I stick to cold, raw potato slices normally. Its no wonder cold helps as it reduces swelling. To my surprise, these feel wonderful. The gel sticks under your eyes although it is already a formed shape. These eventually slowly disintegrate after many uses (I used them 6-7 times) & in between you simply store them until the next use. They are nice & cool but not as harsh as ice cubes. They definitely help with swelling & I did notice my undereyes to be a bit less blue.

The Rose Water Hydrator is the standout for me. I love refreshing spray to make my makeup look less "done" & this has added benefits for all kinds of skin ailments. I didn't notice it helping me with breakouts but it did make my skin feel lovely! I found my skin hydrated & feeling nice & supple. Love this product! Much better than your average water spray :)

Products were provided by PR for consideration.

Victoria's Secret Makeup Haul Featuring Lippies & Discount Sets!

I walked into Victoria's Secret intending to buy these lip pencils & walked out with something else completely. VS has created some lip pencils said to be similar to chubby sticks or the new Revlon moisturizing version. My VS had no idea what I was talking about, like at all. They are quite nice (although many readers have complained about their VS employees) & I went about shopping for something else. I had a $20 reward card to spend & it was burning a hole in my wallet.
That's about the tie I stumbled upon these beautes. They had a 50% sign in front of them whuch made me wary...were the $30 or $15? I asked an employee who had no idea & rang one up. $15! I jumped on that because I already know there are a few products inside valuable to me. & I love travel sizes for my purses! So here's what they contained!

May 2012: Dollar Tree Haul with Sally Hansen, Maybelline, & NYC

Every once in awhile, you score something undoubtedly awesome at Dollar Tree. I'm the first to admit I always walk out with something I don't actually need, but I'm pretty sure its because everything is $1. I've been stalking my local store praying that the NYC cream blushes that have been discontinued would hit here. I love cream blushes, especially in the summer. I like to layer a cream & powder for staying powers or where cream blush alone (sometimes just with tinted moisturizer) for a natural flush.

Left to right: NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Urban Spice,  Mauvin' Uptown, South St. Seashell, Big Apple Blush, & Berry New Yorker.
I waited or so (IM)patiently & here they are! I'm actually pretty happy with the color selection. For me, these shades are perfect.

Left to right:Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Polish in Rose Amore, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Colors in Raspberry Race (a lovely orchid), Uptempo Plum Presto Pewter, & Teal-y Fast.

I wasn't expecting these Sally Hansen shades to be there so they were a lovely surprise. Obviously I need more nail polish right? I actually tend to like the Insta-Dri colors & I don't think these have surfaced at the Dollar Tree here before.

Uptempo Plum is just gorgeous. This is a black base that actually looks black until it hits the light & then you see this gorgeous plum burst of glitter & sheen.

Maybellin Lip Express Lipstick n Liner in One in Fleeting Fawn (top) & Get Mauvin' (bottom).

These Maybelline pencils aren't something I remember seeing in stores. I picked one up awhile back on a whim in Fawn & I really love it. After doing a bit of makeup research, I around reviews for these pencils from around 2001. These were touted as being super long wearing & they didn't get very good reviews. HOWEVER, I like these quite a bit. They are more like moisturizing lipstick pencils. I wouldn't say they're long wearing but they are comfortable to wear which is great for me plus application is easy. Plus, I love the wood, these just look so cool.

For reference, all of these items come in packaging like these & are hanging on the wall.

Do you ever shop deals at the Dollar Tree? I've definitely had my share of hits & misses!

Now onto the review! I'm loving this set personally. I'm blonde naturally but I have been trying to lighten it a bit with other products to give myself the hair of yesteryear. I don't regret dying my hair when I was younger but I do wish it had gone back to its original shade. I find that using products created specifically for blonde color treated hair or naturally blonde hair definitely help remove discoloration & improve my hair overall.

I really like the 4 products used together: shampoo, conditioner, repairing mask, & miracle filler treatment. These have a pleasant but simple scent, what I think of when I categorize the "shampoo & conditioner" scents. It smells clean, fresh, & lovely but not like anything too strong. I personally like that. The scent lingers too which I also personally like. The Miracle Filler Treatment really sticks on my hair & I can smell it at the beginning & end of the day.

The shampoo & conditioner leaves my hair noticeably softer & shinier. The repairing mask made my hair feel very moisturized & its a sinfully thick treatment. The Miracle Filler Treatment goes on like a spray & is meant to fill in & thicken certain areas of your hair where you apply it. I applied it to my hair when damp & worked it into my roots. That's where I have the most breakage as I like to wear my hair too tight probably. I have super fine hair, but its thick so I get quite a few flyaways. While it didn't help with flyaways, it did give me more volume which was much appreciated.

Please enter using the Rafflecopter widget below! If you don't see it, give it a moment to load, refresh your page, or contact me directly & I will try to help! Sorry this is US only & please refer to my disclosure policy which has a special section just for giveaways!

Good luck guys! & I have even more coming up!

Eyes: Mahya Turquoise & Fairy Tale + Citrine Glitter

Here is my first eye look featuring the Mahya glitter I reviewed & raved about a few days ago. I'm also using Mahya eyeshadows in Turquoise & Fairy Tale. The glitter featured is Citrine which is probably the most muted of the bunch.

First, let's look at these two shadows without the glitter. I love Turquoise & I always feels so ethereal wearing this shade. The color shift is gorgeous & Fairy Tale is blended lightly as my highlight. I love this combo! The 2nd 2 photos were taken in shade so you an see Turquoise shifts in pretty much any lighting...woo!

Citrine was applied only to the bottom portion of my eye with the Mahya Eye Glitter Gel. This held wonderfully & I used an angled eyeliner brush that isn't stiff enough to apply the glue to the exact area while not applying too much or too little.

What do you think of this eye look? Don't forget, if you have an color requests to pair with the glitters just let me know! How do you wear glitter usually?

Mani of the Day: Revlon Scented Nail Polish in Mint Gelato

I never thought I'd like scented nail polish but after my first bottle I was hooked. Does it always smell good? Nah. But I have found some I love & many happen to be from Revlon. This is from their new spring collection & its called Mint Gelato...& its perfection.Below the first picture is with flash & the 2nd & 3rd are with artificial daylight bulbs.

Mint Gelato Scented Nail Polish from Revlon: A creamy mint shade that is opaque in 2-3 coats. Medium-high shine. No top coat shown.

Honestly, I wouldn't place this in the mint family right off the bat so the name surprised me. Doesn't it look quite blue to you? I would've placed this as a green leaning aqua...either way this shade is gorgeous & it got me thinking about my favorite pastel cream mints, so I'll be posting those soon! Honestly, the smell of this was nice & strong! I like mint & I don't mind scents so keep that in mind. I actually though this was mint chocolate chip...I thought it smelled like that!

What do you think of this shade? I picked this up off a display at Walgreens if you were curious. Do you like scented nail polish?

MyGlam Bag for May 2012

As far as MyGlam bags go, I feel like this one is in the middle somewhere. I think when we look at subscription services sometimes, we forget that its only $10. Do we want our moneys worth? Indeed, but sometimes we expect them to be way more impressive. Read on to see what I think about this bag in particular!

 The contents:

1. Love Sweet Love Fragrance from Philosophy
I like this perfume quite a bit although it is VERY girly. I haven't tested out longevity or anything really on it yet. I'll have to see how it smells on my skin.

2. Studio Gear Complete Color Lipstick in Winter Red.
I just have to say right off the bat: WTF, why are they giving us red lipstick now instead of in fall/winter? Bummer! I really don't wear red (unless its a tint) during spring & summer because I prefer lip colors that are either a bright spring shade or low maintenance all together.

I swatched it 2 different ways to see if I could sheer it out. The bottom swatch is 2 swipes atop one another & the top is one swipe sheered out. This is really moisturized feeling but it smells like plastic vanilla. It has a golden or red glitter to it. Its fine, but visible so I probably won't wear it sheered.

3. ISS (Kiss?) Beauty Nail Bling
These nail sticker decal things have me on the negative side of the fence. I took a picture with my largest nail (besides my thumb) to show how large these are. I wish some of them had smaller hearts because on me, these will probably look pink & silver...not silver with hearts. These are really textured as well so I wonder how well they will stay.

4 + 5. MyGlam Concealer Brush & Defining Eyeliner Brush
The last 2 brushes (according to the card) are finally here. Its not that I hate these brushes but the first few stank to high heaven. I find these to be about ELF quality (around $1-$3) which isn't a big deal except that I didn't really need these. I'm glad they are coming to an end although I know some people really liked them.

Overall, this isn't the best or the worst. I will keep on next month though if for no other reason than the brushes will end. I want to see what they include instead. If they switch to foil packets or cheapie products to replace them, I'll likely kiss this subscription goodbye.

What do you guys think of this bag? Are you subscribed to MyGlam?

CVS & Walgreens Sightings!

So I went to CVS & Walgreens tonight to check out the new Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stains. I didn't take a picture of that display, but I did snap a few others! I bought two of the new stains by the way, so I'll be reviewing them asap. After ripping them open & testing them I'm pretty sure they will be a hit!

So I'm not sure if this collection is new or not, but I am a Sinful Colors nerd & this was new to my Walgreens. Only 2 shades (to my knowledge) weren't part of the core collection. The 2 new shades are Open Seas (the teal/mint looking shade) & Star Fish (the shade to the left which is kind of a lilac toned pink) which I picked up. I'll swatch them asap.

As cool as these Sally Hansen Magnetic polishes look...they were about $10 each. Um, nope. These colors aren't unique enough for me to pay that price tag. Unless I hear they're brilliant I'll probably pass on these.
Here's a new mascara to me. I have tons to try right now so I didn't pick one up. It was around $13. It is super flexible. What do you think? Have you tried it?

& the Sally Hansen Pedicure strips! I haven't tried my strips (yet!) but I did you my KISS ones on my toes & they worked great! My issue with specific toe ones is mine are freaky small so I feel like it is a waste sometimes....

What have you spied lately? I have some new products coming up (the Revlon Stain Balms & the Milani Shadow Eyez being 2 of them!) that I'm super excited about! What are you enjoying most that's new in your stash?

May 2012: My Gossip Girl Birchbox

I waited so impatiently for this Birchbox. I mean really, I felt like a 15 year old waiting for prom. When Gossip Girl first started, I loved it. I still enjoy seeing the fashion from the show as its all really varied but seriously striking. I'm always happy to see Serena (Blake Lively) & Blair (Leighton Meester) gracing the pages in my many (MANY) magazine subscriptions. When Birchbox managed to team up with Gossip Girl I expected something incredible.

Perhaps that was my fault. Maybe I expected too much. If I had run things, there would have been a Blair  box & a Serena box filled with fabulous items dedicated to your favorite GG character. I would have gone classy but fun & really aimed to outdo the other boxes. I mean, this is Gossip Girl after all. Although some people did get fabulous boxes with full size Stila items, I did not. However, I am not reviewing those boxes, I am reviewing my own. Here is what I did receive.

- A small sample of Miss Dior Eau de Parfum. This is a very girl scent that I actually quite like. A small sample though so I only get a few tries to judge longevity.

- Diorshow Extase mascara in a sample size.

- Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF in Glow. I have tried this. I instantly knew it was super sheer & although I tried to layer it over a scar, it just didn't work for me at all. It has a strange sheen as well which would be fine except that I didn't expect it to.

- Cleansing Oil Shampoo from Shu Uemura. This only had about 2 uses in it for my thick hair but I got the gist of it. I don't feel like it was incredibly mind blowing (which for $55 it needs to be) but maybe its only because I got two uses. My hair feels clean but  it didn't do anything brilliant.

-A baby poop colored notecard. I saw this phrase on Pink Sith's blog & have not been able to get it out of my head. Its just too fitting. I doubt I will ever use this, at least not on someone Ilike.

I will say, the below card ticked me off. I mean, if I watched the show, I would have been livid about the leaked information. I don't really know what this card pertains to because I don't watch it but if they ever include a True Blood card like this before a season finale, there will be hell to pay.

Overall, this box is meh. I mean, its not awful but not great. If I hadn't seen other boxes (but how could I not?) maybe I would be a tad happier but still not beaming. For $10, I'm not dying about it. I think the issues I have mainly are that the shampoo & the DIOR items are pretty much freebies. I feel like overall, this box is lacking & doesn't compare to many of my former boxes. I'm not dropping out yet, I'll give it another shot. I just hope I get a glimpse of the wonderful boxes I used to look forward to every month.

    Target Sally Hansen Clearance Haul

Target isn't usually the place I go to find deals but every once in awhile, I stumble onto a great one. Sally Hansen is one of my favorite brands so when I saw them on clearance I jumped on that. Here's what I picked up!

So these strips are something I've been waiting to try, especially for spring. I loved my nail polish strips from KISS that I got in one of my Influenster boxes so much that this made me want to try these. Now that I have them, I'm a bit nervous honestly. These are like mega huge....& my nails are not. Maybe I can save the excess & use them like I did with the KISS ones? We'll see... Their official name is Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.

The ones I got are Checker Out (green & white plaid), Pink-A-Dot (light pink on white polka dots), &  my personal favorite All-A-Flutter. All-A-Flutter is the only textured/shimmering with pink, yellow, & green butterflies on kind of a pearly off-white background. Pretty!

Usually these go on sale way after the season (Christmas for summer anyone?) so I was excited to find all of these for only $2.56 a piece. I think I'll take these with me to Cali (or at least one of them!) for when my nails start looking crappy & I'm too lazy to actually wear them. These are normally anywhere from $8-$13 bucks.

These nail files were a steal at only 30 cents each. The plaid & butterfly files match the manicure strips but there weren't any multicolor plaid ones available. I'm not crazy about this pattern on me, feels a bit aged, but on a file its all good. Only 30 cents each.

For those that use these strips, any tips? What should I expect & do you ever save the excess? Has anyone else picked up deals like this on these strips? I also picked up a pair at CVS for only 99 cents here in one of my past hauls!
