Nails by Laura Limited Edition Charity Polish in Know Hope Swatches + Review

I love pink glitter so when Laura came up with another charity polish (her previous was Dani-Mite) I knew I was in. Know Hope from Nails by Laura on Etsy is a kaleidoscope of pink glitter & holo shimmers within a clear base. It is spectacular, even coming from someone who isn't usually drawn to pinks. I paid my $10 & patiently awaited it in the mail, along with my custom polish "This is Halloween" which I have already swatched. & adore. Seriously.

Learn some more from Laura herself about Know Hope:
"Due to the success of Dani-Mite, our charity polish with 50% of the proceeds going to the National Brain Tumor Society (linked below, never to be made again!), I've decided to do another Charity Polish for Breast Cancer Awareness!

My mother is a survivor, and just about everyone I know or meet has lost someone or been affected by breast cancer- and I know it's rare to hear from a person who can't say the same! So this Cause will be near and dear to me and mine.

"Know Hope" is a sparkly, pink polish made up of about 8 different glitters in various sizes and shades of PINK, of course! Like DaniMite, it will be a Limited Edition polish but with 300 made. I want (to) raise money and awareness, and I want to do it on a larger scale this time!! October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so get your bottle today! Each bottle will be labeled as Limited Edition- 1/300, 2/300, etc.

50% of each bottle sold ($5) will go Living Beyond Breast Cancer
Even if you don't want a bottle, I encourage you to go to their site and make a donation!"

Know Hope from Nails by Laura:  This is a fabulous mix of pinks ranging from raspberry to hot pink to the palest of pinks. With a touch of holo micro glitter, this really has a mind of its own. Some metallic, some satin, & some flat glitters mainly in the medium-small range. There are also a few large glitters thrown in all suspended in a clear base. Most are hexes but there are a few small squares.

One of my favorite things about the Nails by Laura glitter polishes is that I can't imagine running out. They are totally packed with glitter & because I tend to layer I often only need one coat. These glitters laid nice & flat & I think looked pretty cool on the tips of the black matte. Bit more fun I think!

You can find this polish in the Nails by Laura Etsy shop, but it is indeed limited edition! You'll not the 10/300 on my bottle AKA this is #10 of the 300 maximum she is producing. This is by far the most unique pink glitter I've ever owned, nothing else in my vast collection even comes close. She works with quite a few satin glitters in her creations which you rarely see in other venues.

What do you think of my pink glitter tips? Are you feeling this polish? Have you picked up any awesome charity polishes this mont?

Nails by Laura's Charity Polish "Dani-mite"

When I can use my blog to do good, I'm more than happy to! I don't personally have this polish in my possession, but I do want to let you guys know about it! If you've somehow missed my multiple posts reviewing & swatching polishes from Nails by Laura, simply go to the search bar in the upper left & check them out!
From Laura, the owner of Nails by Laura;
I was recently approached by a member of a group I'm in to help her create a polish that we could sell to benefit the charity of her choice, The National Brain Tumor Society (Linked Below). Danielle herself has had a double diagnosis of a brain tumor, and as it is, this is a Cause close to me for personal (and probably obvious) reasons. So when Danielle approached our group with this request, I had to jump on it.

"Dani-mite" is named for Danielle, who brought this all to be in the first place. It's made up of satin turquoise, satin lime, and regular shiny orange hexes in a fine, holographic glitter base. As you can see from the swatch, it CAN be opaque with about 3-4 coats, but I do personally encourage it as a top coat, if only for easier application.

There are (as of this writing) 11 left until I get my next glitter order (hopefully tomorrow!). When those 11 are gone, that will leave 43 sold with 57 left.

THERE WILL ONLY BE 100 MADE EVER. They will be labeled as such (1/100, 2/100, 3/100,etc). I WILL NOT make any more after that. You will not see this become part of my regular line. When the 100 sell, they're gone. So grab 'em for a good cause!
If you pick up this polish, I'd love to link to your swatches! Please do let me know!

Etsy Spotlight: Exposed Organics Eye Dusts

Remember Etsy Spotlight? Its back & next up we have the vegan beauty company Exposed Organics!
What Exposed Organics Says: "welcome to exposed organics, your home for natural beauty with spunk. our products are created to nourish, protect and beautify without adding chemical dyes or harsh chemicals." -from the Etsy Page
I received a variety of products to review but I will first start out with the eye dusts. I am a hoarder of most makeup in general but my area of most delusion tends to be eye products! These are SUPER fine & swatched true to color. I love the packaging & although these are sample sizes I feel like I got a good amount to use over a period of time. The colors are all lovely with a similar sparkle & gleam. I recommend applying these using a patting motion as always with loose shadows to help avoid fallout! I want to note real quick how much I love the labels because the color title is similar to the color itself. I find that super helpful & wish more companies took the time to do that!

Jenda- My favorite shade, this is a cranberry/blackberry/red based purple packed with multi-colored shimmer.

Swag- An orange with hints of yellow with a golden shimmer packed within.

Charcoal- A medium grey with purple shimmer base.

Titanium- My 2nd favorite, this is a gorgeous, multi-colored shimmering white based gray with blue undertones. Nice pigmentation & kind of reminds me of what a tiara smashed into an eye pigment would look like.

Anya- A yellow with a white base shimmer that reminds me of daffodils.

I Dream of Reenie- A multi-colored shimmering lilac toned purple that applies somewhat sheer.

Nugget- A silver toned light brown that comes off as a warm highlight shade for me.

Left to right:  Jenda, Anya, Charcoal, Titanium, Swag, I Dream of Reenie, & Nugget.

If you are loving these vegan eye dusts as much as I am, check out Exposed Organics on Etsy. You can also check them out on their new website for up to date news:!

Etsy Spotlight: Witches Brew & Toil and Trouble from Nails By Laura

Happy ALMOST Halloween! I recieved these eyeshadows to review and have been saving them for Halloween. I mean, with those adorable names, how could I not? This is Laura's leap into eyeshadow, and I love it! Nails by Laura specializes in handmade & custom polishes...but she definitely needs to add eyeshadows to her list! Ready to meet this spooky duo?

Toil & Trouble is a bit more unique and I think its tough to tell the coloring without first swatching it. Described as a lime green, I feel it is more of a pale chartruese. But then again, I'm kind of sassy when it comes to colors. Like my husband says "Robin's Egg is Blue and Peach is Orange." Wrong wrong wrong but I get not everyone is as color-obsessed as myself ;)

Witches Brew is just my style, a shimmering purple and none of that lavendar either! I like PURPLE and it delivers. The shimmer is a superfine holo with glimpses of red, blue, purple, green, and silver.

So here's my full look! I tried it with black lipstick from Wet n Wild's Fantasy Makers 2011 collection, a berry lip tint I made, & my Wet n Wild Lip Duo in Passion Plum. I didn't realize I had grabbed 2 Wet n Wild products, but they both fit the bill so...

This is part of the Nails by Laura Halloween collection. To check it out, go here! These shades have accompanying nail colors too!For an additional 5% off, enter code STEPHLOUISE upon checkout!

How to Set Up a Fabulous Guest Bathroom

So as the holidays approach I know I'll be having visitors which means setting up my guest room. What a lot of people DON'T think of is the guest bathroom! This is often overlooked, but just as (or even more!) important. Making guests feel comfortable is part of being a great host, and its not nearly as difficult as you might think.

-Towels & washcloths
-Toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss.
- Soap for both hands and body.
- Kleenex, cotton balls, Q-tips, etc.
- Medicine: Keep mini bottles handy so they don't feel rude asking for some.

Personal Touch:
- Get washcloths that will last for your guests duration & can go home with them! I swear by the washcloths that expand in water in their first use. I pick them up at discount stores with fun characters, but my favorites have animals or science on them! Approximately $1 each.

- Consider putting together a beauty/grooming caddy for guests only. I have one that I use to put my travel size/samples in and that way when someone forgets something, its right there. I always stock mine with lotion, face wash, shaving cream, shampoo, & conditioner. I add in samples I think will be helpful when certain people are coming to stay, like nail polish remover cloths for my mom and hairspray for my girlfriend.

- Have seriously cool soap. Sounds lame right? I have found that pretty soap can actually be pretty darn cool. Shop Etsy or Amazon for rubber duckies, goth skulls, gameboys, intricate roses, & about anything else you can think of. Want to make it yourself without actually having to work at it? Buy a few bars of different colors or textures then cut into cubes. Mix them in a glass bowl for a fun but fancy vibe. Want something really different? Make soap curls using a chocolate shaver or a vegetable peeler! To save my favorites, I put out liquid soap alongside ;)

-Set up a little aromatherapy set to make guests feel more relaxed. Pick a soothing scent (my favorite is lavender or cucumber) then get a few variations of products like bath salts, candles, & room spray.

-Keep it sanitary and stocked.
-Don't assume your guests will only be males or females.
-Make sure it has your personal touches while still accommodating everyone comfortably. It may be used by guests, but its still in your space!

What do you keep on hand for guests? Any tips to add?

Etsy Spotlight: Ghoulish Goodies Bows & Accessories

Mixing some punk rock with the feminine classics, Ghoulish Goodies has a wide variety of options to choose from. Cecilia Salinas is located in Riverside, CA and has an eye for design. From pin-ups to classic horror movies, her bows are fun & original while remaining reasonably priced. Want to mix it up? She gladly accepts custom orders and works as a business professional to achieve exactly the look you want.
Here are the bows I received for review:
Here's the front of the 5 bows.
& the back!
This is my favorite! I've been wearing it like crazy, especially with Halloween coming up!

The girls in my pre-k class love this one!

Check out the backing on these, this is important! Bows without this kind of sturdy planned backing for the clip do NOT last. All the bows I received were made correctly so they won't fall apart, snag your hair, or hurt your head with metal edges.
& my pin-ups! Obviously I can't wear them to work, but I have been wearing them on my weekends! Got lots of compliments! Definitely cute when paired with winged out eyeliner and bold lips!
Tip: I can't wait till I can wear these on my knitted caps during winter!

From Bettie Paige to Morticia Adams to Hello Kitty, the bottlecap bows are unique and creative.  Along with bottlecap bows, she has created unique shapes such as the "Bat Bow", Skeleton Hand barrettes, eyeball florals, (see below) and much more.

Here are some more designs availible for viewing on Etsy and/or Facebook:

From bright and cheery Hello Kitty to sexy pin-up style bows, visit Ghoulish Goodies! For questions about her work, feel free to contact  Cecilia through her Facebook page:Ghoulish Goodies ! Also, this is where she has more designs, you can ask questions, & much more!
